Finally, Alabama Football is back. Has a Crimson Tide football offseason ever felt so long? For many of us, I suspect the answer is no. One reason being the interval between games was longer by several days with the Crimson Tide not in the CFB Playoff last season. That not making the Playoff, made all the long months since drag by slower than normal.

A lot of college football will be played on Saturday before the Crimson Tide takes the field against Middle Tennessee State (MTSU). Much of it will be SEC teams feasting on some very bad football teams.

Middle Tennessee State is not in the category of ‘very bad.’ The Blue Raiders won eight games last season, including a two-touchdown upset on the road against the Miami Hurricanes. Alabama is around a 39-point favorite over MTSU.

For those going to Bryant-Denny, the kickoff will be shortly after 6:30PM CST. Gates will open this season two hours before. A new pre-game area named Champions Lane will be located north of the stadium, on the lawn behind the Tusk statue. It will include “food trucks, a sound stage, lounge with casual seating, sponsor activations, LED videoboards for fans to watch other college football games in action, Crimson Tide student-athlete autograph tent and more!”

There will also be shaker bins for fans inside each gate and as promised by the University, added ‘grab-and-go’ concession. Self-checkout will hopefully solve some of the too-often long concession lines.

During the game, the weather is expected to be cloudy with temperatures in the high 70s and light winds

For the millions who will watch from home, the game will be on the SEC Network. The SEC Network broadcast team is Tom Hart, Jordan Rogers and Cole Cubelic.

Eli Gold, along with Tyler Watts and Christian Miller will provide the radio broadcast on the Crimson Tide Sports Network of channels. The radio broadcast will also be available on Sirius/XM: 134 or 190.

Alabama Football Injury Update

One Crimson Tide player who will not see action is inside linebacker Jihaad Campbell. Campbell had a knee repair done recently and will miss the MTSU game. Hopefully, he will return against either Texas or South Florida. Alabama freshman running back, Justice Haynes who missed some of fall camp and the last scrimmage, is said to be fully recovered and is expected to play.

For the handful of Alabama football fans who may not know; Jalen Milroe will start at quarterback.

dark. Next. More on the Blue Raiders

Crimson Tide fans are hoping the game provides answers to many questions about the 2023 season.
