Alabama Football vs. Texas A&M: Watching, injuries, betting and game prediction
By Ronald Evans
How big is week six for the Alabama football team? It is more than another tough SEC road game. The game is, however, bigger for the Aggies and especially Jimbo Fisher.
"For Fisher, it could be the program-defining win he thought he had two seasons ago, but which he dramatically failed to capitalize on."
An A&M win would also move the unranked Aggies to not out of reach Playoff contention.
For Alabama Football the game carries significance as well. Unlike Jimbo Fisher’s situation and rumors a $70M-plus buyout is not an obstacle, a loss will not signal an end to Nick Saban’s run with the Crimson Tide. But a two-loss Crimson Tide would have almost no chance of making the last four-team CFB Playoff field.
Alabama Football Game Info, Injuries and Betting Info
How to watch: The game will be presented by CBS, with kickoff around 2:35 PM CST. The play-by-play announcer will be Brad Nessler, with Gary Danielson as the analyst. Jenny Dell will be on the sideline for CBS.
The game will be available for streaming through Paramount+ and other CBS platforms, plus fuboTV.
Injuries: The Tide’s Emmanuel Henderson and Devonta Smith will miss another game. Alabama is expected to have some previously injured key players available for the game. Jermaine Burton, Jah-Marien Latham and Jaheim Oatis are expected to be at or near 100%. Deontae Lawson and Terrence Ferguson are expected to be available. It is not known how close either one is to a full recovery from their injuries. All indications are rumors of a Jalen Milroe injury were unfounded.
For the Aggies, starting quarterback Conner Weigman is out for the season. Key A&M wide receiver Evan Stewart had an injury scare during the Arkansas game, but reports are he has practiced and will be good to go on Saturday afternoon.
Betting Odds: On Friday afternoon, FanDuel had the Alabama Crimson Tide as a 2.5-point favorite. The Moneyline was Alabama -144 and Texas A&M +120. The Over/Under was 46.5 points. Other sportsbooks have the spread at two points, and for a few hours when a Jalen Milroe injury rumor was circulating, one sportsbook had the Aggies as a one-point favorite.
Game Prediction:
The Aggies Nation is looking for not just a win but a big win. I expect neither team will push the pace and in a tough defensive battle, Will Reichard’s leg will be the difference.
My prediction is Alabama Football 23 – Texas A&M 21
