Alabama Football once again had some struggles offensively in a 26-20 win over Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide ran for just 23 yards on less than one yard per carry. It committed two turnovers, and was fortunate to avoid at least one more. The Bama offense was also plagued by penalties, particularly pre-snap infractions that routinely killed drives.

Collectively, these mistakes sound like a recipe for disaster. However, the Bama offense was proficient enough in the passing game to establish a lead over the Aggies and ran the ball just well enough in the second half to cement the victory.

Alabama Football Quarterbacks: A-

Jalen Milroe proved a lot of doubters wrong in this game. Those that have watched Alabama Football closely over the past several weeks already knew that he was beginning to make massive strides as a passer and as a leader, but he might’ve announced himself to the national college football audience in this game.

Milroe is still far from a finished product, but he played his best game to date and got a win against a very good Texas A&M defense. Additionally, Milroe will not face another hostile road environment as raucous as A&M’s 12th Man until Bama goes to Jordan-Hare at the end of the regular season.

Playing an aggressive Aggie defense with questionable secondary play, Jalen Milroe came out firing. He hit an early deep ball to Jermaine Burton on Bama’s second drive that led to a field goal, then hit another one to Isaiah Bond for a 52-yard touchdown on its third possession. For the game, Milroe connected on three passes of 45 yards or more, and was equally proficient in the intermediate game. In total, he completed roughly 63 percent of his passes (21-33) for 321 yards and three scores.

The redshirt sophomore had some rough moments as well. He was baited into his fourth interception of the season, and continued to cause unnecessary sacks with his occasional discomfort and lack of awareness in the pocket. While he still has room to improve, Milroe’s growth at the midway point in the season is apparent. He is gradually rounding into form and becoming a quarterback that Bama could potentially win a title with.
