The AP released their Midseason All-American team and on the list were three familiar faces. Dallas Turner, Will Reichard, and Kool-Aid McKinstry were named to the First Team All-American team at their respective positions. The Alabama Football team had no players named to the second All-American team.
Dallas Turner has been the leader of the defense with the departure of Will Anderson. Through six games Dallas Turner is currently 5th in the Nation in sacks adding 29 tackles and 2 forced fumbles to an impressive resume so far.
Will Reichard has been Mr. Reliable going 21/21 on extra points and 13/13 on field goal attempts. Will Reichard has also filled in for James Burnip at punter when James went down with an injury versus Texas A&M. Will Reichard has been an absolute weapon for this Alabama Football team giving them a chance at scoring points every time they cross midfield. In the game against Arkansas Will Reichard became the All-Time leading scorer for the Alabama Football team an impressive honor, to say the least.
Kool-Aid Mckinstry may be the most talented player on the Alabama Football Team. Mckinstry lines up every week opposite of the other team’s best receiver and continues to impress every week. Playing opposite of Terrion Arnold the pair has become one of if not the nation’s best cornerback tandem limiting opposing receivers to mediocre performances. Only one wide receiver has gotten to the 100-yard milestone this season with Ja’Tavion Sanders of Texas being the lone receiver to do so.
Which snubbed Alabama Football Players have a chance to make the final teams?
The player I’d expect to join the trio at season’s end is Sophomore cornerback Terrion Arnold. Terrion Arnold has grown leaps and bounds since last season and it’s been massive for the Alabama Defense. Terrion Arnold has 1 interception, 6 pass defenses, and 1 sack on the 2023 season thus far. Alongside Kool-Aid Mckinstry, the defense has only allowed one player to go for 100 yards receiving.
We may also see Right Tackle JC Latham finish the season on either the All-American first or second team. Latham has been the best player on the Alabama Offensive line impressing many with both his pass and run blocking. We may even see true freshman Caleb Downs make the first or second team if he continues his run of impressive play. Downs ranks 9th in tackles for all FBS defensive backs. To go along with his team-leading 54 tackles Downs has 2 interceptions and a forced fumble through 6 games an impressive mark for a true freshman.
