Until this century, the Cotton Bowl was actually one of Alabama’s least successful bowls. The Crimson Tide went 1-3 in the Cotton Bowl under Bear Bryant, but Nick Saban has twice used it as a springboard to the CFP national championship game, winning the title in 2015.
