This offseason the Alabama football team lost 21 players to the transfer portal, which isn’t surprising for a program that consistently brings in top caliber talent. The Crimson Tide only decided to bring in 5 players for the 2023 season through the portal. A few of the names that entered the portal came as a surprise as they very well could have started for the Crimson Tide this season. Let’s take a look at a few of the biggest names to leave the Alabama Football program and how they’ve faired at their new schools.

One of the more shocking departures was when Jojo Earle entered the Transfer Portal leaving Alabama for TCU. As a freshman Earle contributed catching 12 passes for 148 yards and was expected to contribute and compete for a starting role as a sophomore. A fractured foot in the summer led to Jojo Earle missing 4 games to start the season. Once returning Earle totaled 12 catches for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns. Earle would enter the portal and head to TCU along with Trey Sanders and Tommy Brockermeyer. Through 8 games Earle has recorded 9 catches for 99 yards and a touchdown.

Both sides are likely happy with how things have panned out. For Alabama, young receivers in Isaiah Bond and Kobe Prentice have earned big roles for the Alabama Football team. For Earle, he moves close to home in Texas while still competing for playing time at TCU.
