Alabama Baseball enters a new era as Coach Rob Vaughn takes over following the departure of former head Coach Brad Bohannon. As early signing day came Today the Alabama Baseball team signed 11 High School Athletes. The recruiting class is pitching heavy as the team signed Six Pitchers and Five Hitters.
The class consists of many of the country’s highest-regarded players from all over the country. One of the biggest factors in landing such a massive class was Vaughn’s pre-existing relationships with recruits he built while at Maryland. This class will help supplement a large transfer class Vaughn brought in this off-season in building a strong program for the future.
The Pitchers included Nash Wagner, Jack Ketchum, Connor Lehman, Jackson Hunter, Anthony Pesci, and Ashton Alston.
The hitters included Jojo Williamson, Sean Griggs, Peyton Steele, Carter Johnson, and Jon Young Jr.
When asked what drew him to Alabama Young Jr. had the following to say:
"What drew me to Alabama was all the coaches. Obviously, Tuscaloosa is like no other and I have never been to a campus with that atmosphere. But Coach Vaugh, Coach Morrison, and Coach Papio recruited me during their time at Maryland and I absolutely loved them and what they were building and the energy they bring everywhere is contagious and I love their beliefs of how they conduct their program and what they try to get out of us as players. Coach Vaughn and the rest of the staff gave me a chance and I couldn’t be more grateful that these are the coaches I will be playing for in college. They are real down-to-earth people and great human beings they made my family feel welcome and just as apart of this as I have felt. I think any player can say the same about Coach Vaughn, Coach Morrison, Coach Pap, and Coach Jackson."
Alabama Baseball: Excitement builds as Vaughn Era begins.
As Alabama enters the Coach Vaughn Era there is plenty of excitement regarding the direction of the program. With the arrival of Vaughn comes a winning pedigree as he’s coming off of back-to-back Regular Season Championship’s while coaching at Maryland. The excitement continued to build as he was able to retain Jason Jackson who stepped in to lead the Alabama Baseball program after Coach Bohannon’s departure while remaining one of the Country’s top pitching coaches as well as a top recruiter. This team has endless excitement going forward as Coach Vaughn has brought in an exciting transfer class with this recruiting class and the future looks bright for Alabama Baseball.
