How the West was won by this Alabama football team may be the most dramatic and up-and-down ride of Nick Saban’s tenure in Tuscaloosa. From the entire offseason conversation of who the QB was going to be, to two new coordinators, and, despite all the uncertainty, still dealing with the normal National Championship or bust expectations. I can’t think of an Alabama football team that has changed their identity so drastically from September to November.

This is a team that has gone from being dominated at home by Texas, to a team many thought may lose 3-4 games in 2023, to a team who worse case scenario will have an opportunity to win the SEC. The expectations in Tuscaloosa are still National Championship or bust, and as of right now this goal is still on the table. Of course, that will mean Alabama will have to win in Jordan-Hare Stadium and then beat an undefeated Georgia team in Atlanta the following Saturday.

This may go down as one of Nick Saban’s best coaching performances ever. This is a team that almost lost to USF and didn’t play a full game against an SEC opponent until this past Saturday in Lexington, but has improved greatly from one week to the next. The second-half adjustments have been legendary, the transition of Jalen Milroe from a game manager to the star of the offense has almost been something out of a movie, and the most amazing part is it’s very likely the Crimson Tide have yet to play their best game of the season.

The most important thing for this team will be just worrying about what they can control and continuing to stay away from what Coach Saban calls “Rat Poison.” The debates will be intense amongst fans, talking heads, and of course the playoff committee, but there is little to no doubt that if this Alabama football team handles business they’ll be in the final Top Four.

Alabama continues to be a team that, when they are playing their best, is near unbeatable. They are starting to hit on all cylinders and November is the perfect month for everything to fully click. The path to the playoff and winning the SEC isnt going to be easy, but honestly nothing about this entire 2023 season has been easy for the Crimson Tide.

Next. Bama's remarkable progression. dark

It’s been a fun ride to this point and no matter how this ends, this will go down as one of the most memorable seasons in Alabama Football history.
