Alabama Football: Biggest Takeaways from Saturday’s Game
Alabama Football gets no help, could rankings swing the Tide?
The Alabama Football game had a few great chances this week to see the teams ahead of them fall and didn’t see any actually happen. Michigan eeked out a win over Maryland where Maryland had multiple chances to tie the contest late in the game but ultimately fell short. Despite holding the Washington Huskies to no points in the second half the Oregon State Beavers fell short 22-20 in a spot that could’ve guaranteed Alabama that the Pac-12 champion would have one loss.
Auburn pays New Mexico State to beat them before Iron Bowl
In an era where the figures on buy games are seemingly always coming out the number of the week is 1.85 million. The Auburn Tigers paid New Mexico State $1.85 Million to come and dominate the team 31-10 a week before the Iron Bowl. The loss absolutely flips the season for Hugh Freeze’s club as the team will now finish the season 6-6 if it loses to Alabama when a win Today would have guaranteed a winning season in year one of the Freeze era.
Rivalry Week Wishlist
As we enter College Football rivalry week there are still a few scenarios the Alabama Football team could enjoy this upcoming Saturday.
Wish 1: Destroy the Auburn Tigers
Coming off their most embarrassing loss of the year losing a buy game to New Mexico State the Auburn Tigers will be playing angry. What better way to end year one of the Hugh Freeze era than a beatdown in Jordan-Hare?
Wish 2: Gators knockoff the Noles
Florida State suffered heartbreak today losing the country’s most underrated Quarterback in Jordan Travis, to what appears to be a significant injury. The Noles currently have the fourth-ranked team in the country with only a Florida Gators matchup and the ACC title game standing in the way. A Florida Gators win would end Florida State’s season giving Alabama another pathway to the playoff.
Wish 4: Pac 12 in-state rivals rise up
The last chances for Washington and Oregon to trip up will be to their in-state little brothers with the Ducks facing Oregon State and the Huskies facing Washington State. The team to root for is the Washington State Cougars, with a victory potentially sending them bowling while also sending their biggest rival out of the conference with a sour taste in their mouth. A Washington loss would certainly clear the way for a one-loss conference champion Alabama to make the playoff whereas an Oregon loss wouldn’t do much for an Alabama team.
