On Saturday the Alabama Football team will receive a small bump as either third-ranked Michigan or second-ranked Ohio State will lose when the two face off. This season hasn’t exactly had the massive losses we’ve seen in nearly every season of college football. With rivalry week looming before conference championships, there is a chance that teams get caught off guard this week leading to the Alabama Football team getting the help it may end up needing.
The College Football Playoff Committee unveiled its rankings and the Crimson Tide didn’t get any help from the Committee. Going into conference championship week the Alabama Football team will likely need to jump four places to get into the College Football Playoff. The next two weeks the Alabama Football team will need help from outside sources in order to return to the playoff after missing last season.
Alabama Football: When will the chaos ensue?
Every season we see mayhem in college football with routinely top teams tumbling to unranked opponents creating chaos. This season we haven’t had the major upsets we’ve seen in previous years leaving us only with rivalry week to provide for some major excitement. If Alabama doesn’t get the chaos and help it needs this week there will be little to no scenarios for true chaos the following weekend at conference championships.
The biggest chaos scenario would likely be in the Big Ten championship game. If the Iowa Hawkeyes were able to knock off either Michigan or Ohio State it would eliminate the Big Ten from Playoff contention altogether. The Big 12 is an intriguing race to watch as well as Texas is 7-1 followed by three teams at 6-2. Oklahoma State is currently the front-runner for the second conference title bid with a win over BYU clinching them a spot in the conference title game. The committee may look at Texas differently if they beat Oklahoma State rather than if they avenged their loss to Oklahoma.
