When the Alabama Football team faces the Georgia Bulldogs in the biggest game of the season they may be without their leading rusher. Jase McClellan left Saturday’s Iron Bowl on crutches immediately sounding off alarms for his status in the weeks to come. As of Thursday, it appears that Jase will not be able to go on Saturday with reports that McClellan hasn’t participated much in practice this week.

The absence of McClellan will likely lead to Roydell Williams becoming the featured back with Jam Miller seeing an uptick in carries for the SEC Championship Game. The interesting factor if McClellan can’t play will be if Nick Saban uses freshmen Justice Haynes or Richard Young this weekend. The duo has seen little game experience however, they’re super talented and the aspect of fresh legs could play a big role against a stout Georgia Defense. I’d expect Tommy Rees to dial up a few more designed runs for Jalen Milroe to help balance the rushing and passing attacks.

Alabama Football: Injuries may play a major role in SEC Championship Game

On both sides of this rivalry, the teams are dealing with injuries as the season moves along. For Georgia, the major injuries they’re concerned about are Tight End Brock Bowers and Wide Receiver Ladd McConkey. McConkey and Bowers despite being Georgia’s two biggest weapons have only played a few number of snaps together as they’ve dealt with injuries for most of this season. There are a few more names to watch as Georgia held several key starters out on Saturday against Georgia Tech with Rara Thomas and Tate Ratledge also missing the contest.

For Alabama Football there are few injuries of note outside of McClellan. Players like Trezmen Marshall, Deontae Lawson, and Malachi Moore certainly won’t be 100% as they’ve dealt with injuries for extended periods during this season.

The expected statuses would seem to indicate that outside of Jase McClellan everyone will play that has a questionable status for either team.
