Alabama was written off following its Week 2 loss to Texas, but now the Crimson Tide are right back in the thick of the College Football Playoff discussion in the lead up to the team National Semifinals reveal on Sunday afternoon.
The Crimson Tide won the SEC Championship, snapping Georgia’s 29-game winning streak with a 27-24 win, creating the path for the team to make it back to the CFP as a one-loss Power Five Champion. However, it’s far from certain with a few hours to go.
UPDATE: We have certainty, as Alabama has made the College Football Playoff and is the No. 4 seed against Michigan in the Rose Bowl. The odds below will be updated accordingly.
There are likely five teams battling for four spots, and two are locked up with Michigan and Washington completing respective undefeated seasons.
That leaves two spots between Alabama, Texas (with its win over the Crimson Tide on the road and a Big 12 Championship) and Florida State, who is undefeated with an ACC title but started its third string quarterback on Saturday against Louisville.
It’s not predictive, but here is a snapshot of how oddsmakers view the Crimson Tide’s chances of making the CFP.
Alabama odds to make College Football Playoff
Alabama has the third most likely odds to make the CFP when compared to Texas and Florida State, which would spell that the Crimson Tide would be left out of the top four and no SEC teams would be represented.
Meanwhile, when you look at the National Championship odds, the Crimson Tide have proven that if the team gets in, the team is live for yet another title.
