There is Transfer Portal frenzy across college football. Things are different with Alabama Football from almost every other program. The Alabama Crimson Tide has some Portal needs, but other, much more pressing matters require the attention of the Alabama football staff.

Though transfer situations are always fluid, there are no expected Portal, exit announcements by any Tide player who will have a key role in the Playoff.

Nick Saban will not rush any transfer activity. On Monday, Saban planned to have an open door for any Tide player wanting to his college football future.

"I told our players today in the meeting, ‘some of you have issues about transition in terms of your future. You don’t have to do it in a vaccum. We’re here to help you. Come talk to us about it.…whether it’s guys going out early for the draft or seniors, leadership group on the team, guys in transition have an opportunity to visit about what they want to do in the future."

Alabama Football Portal Needs

The positions Alabama will consider important for potential transfers are cornerback, offensive tackle, and defensive line. With Kool-Aid and Terrion almost assured of being in the NFL next season, adding two transfer cornerbacks cannot be ruled out.

The Crimson Tide offensive line has considerable potential among its backup offensive linemen. Even so, a transfer who could step into a starting right tackle role would make a great addition.

Gaining some immediate 2024 help at edge rusher should also be a priority for the Alabama football staff. The Crimson Tide already has guys on the roster to replace Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell, but it is not known if those replacements can become game-changing players.

Not totally out of the question are transfer additions at safety, wide receiver, and running back.

The 2024 Alabama Crimson Tide Quarterback Situation

One or more quarterback exits are expected. Losing two or three of the current QBs seems most likely. Nick Saban will want four scholarship quarterbacks on the 2024 roster. The Transfer Portal already has a slew of top quarterbacks, including Kyle McCord, Dillon Gabriel, Riley Leonard, Cam Ward, and Will Rogers. But none of those guys are coming to Tuscaloosa to be a backup.

All of them will be heavily recruited to start for a new team. Alabama already has its starter for next season in Jalen Milroe. In addition, in a few days, the Crimson Tide will add the top QB in the 2024 class, in Julian Sayin.

If Dylan Lonergan or Ty Simpson decide to not transfer, the Tide will have little need for a transfer QB. It is unlikely a proven QB will choose a move to Tuscaloosa.
