The 2026 Alabama football roster is loaded with potential. The Crimson Tide roster is also unusually young and/or short on meaningful game experience.
Kalen DeBoer has a solid core of player talent and experience on which he can rely. Still, there are questions about starters at some positions. Those questions will hopefully be answered in fall camp or in the September games.
Key backups and rotational roles are more undecided. DeBoer's 'solid player core' must grow by more than a few players for Alabama to improve on last season's performance. The watch list below includes 23 players: eight freshmen, nine sophomores, six juniors, and two seniors. The redshirt distinction no longer applies, and beyond senior status, Alabama's full roster includes eight 5th-year players and two 6th-year players.
Not included in the 25-player list are several players already slotted for starter or key roles: Austin Mack, Keelon Russell, Jackson Lloyd, Caleb Woodson, Dijon Lee, London Simmons, Terrance Green, and Desmond Umeozulu, also established players beyond a breakout stage.

This long list could have been longer. Alabama football fans have plenty of favorites. The Alabama roster is deep with potential. There will be player surprises, good and bad. Some will occur in Fall Camp or early games, but other progress up the Crimson Tide depth chart could happen at any time. A best-case scenario would be for all starters, backups, and key rotational players to be set by Monday, the week of the Georgia game.
