Kalen DeBoer grabbed a major prospect from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore during the 2026 cycle. It looks like he's trying to dip back into that talent pool.

One of Alabama's top commitments in the 2026 recruiting class is 5-star safety Jireh Edwards out of St. Frances Academy. Edwards is an elite prospect and has recently reaffirmed his commitment to the Crimson Tide by shutting down his recruitment.

Edwards can now help his future school by donning his recruiting hat. Earlier this week, Alabama extended an offer to his high school teammate: 3-star CB Khmari Bing, who has been committed to home-state Maryland for over a year.

Bing is ranked as the No. 1288 overall player in the 247 composite, but he has an impressive offer list. Alabama is the latest to offer him, and he holds reported offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, and Penn State.

Bing could be a guy who rises significantly in the recruiting rankings as a senior. Alabama has obviously seen something they like a lot about him to extend an offer now.

If Alabama makes a serious push, they should have a good chance to flip Bing

It remains to be seen how much of a priority Alabama makes Bing. They already have a loaded secondary and two corners committed in this class in 5-star Jorden Edmonds and 4-star Zyan Gibson. They don't need another CB, but they certainly have room to add some prospects in this class if they choose to.

Alabama has an elite class, but with only 21 commitments, they would probably like to add a handful late in the process between now and the early signing period.

Bing won't be an easy flip. He committed to Maryland early in the recruiting process and has been loyal to the Terrapins.

If Bing decides to flip, you have to think Alabama will be a top contender thanks to the presence of Edwards on the roster. The 5-star is planning on making a couple of trips to Tuscaloosa during the season for games. Alabama will probably try to push for him to bring Bing down with him for a visit or two.
