5-star projected to land at Alabama following huge recruiting weekend in Tuscaloosa

It was a huge weekend for visitors for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama. It's already paying dividends with one recruiting expert placing a prediction for the Tide to land one of the top players in the country.

Alabama hosted a plethora of visitors over the weekend for the LSU game, with some of the nation's top prospects from all across the country descending upon Tuscaloosa to see the Crimson Tide in person.

Alabama earned a 20-9 win in front of a loaded group of visitors, and it may have already paid major dividends in the recruitment of one of the top players in the 2027 class.

5-star IOL Maxwell Hiller from Coatesville, Pennsylvania made the trip, and the feedback from the visit was good enough that On3's Steve Wiltfong placed an RPM for Hiller to land in the Crimson Tide's class:

Hiller, listed at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, is ranked as the No. 8 overall player and the top interior offensive lineman in the country, per the 247 composite. Hiller projects as either a guard or a tackle at the next level, with the type of versatility that Kalen DeBoer and this coaching staff have proven to covet.

Hiller also plays defensive line in high school, and some believe he could be elite on either line of scrimmage in college. His athleticism, versatility, and power are exactly what the doctor ordered for an Alabama offensive line that needs to get better.

Hiller was once considered a Penn State lean, but with the Nittany Lions firing James Franklin and currently riding a six-game losing streak, it has opened the door for the 5-star prospect to leave the state. Penn State's pain could be DeBoer and Alabama's gain.

Maxwell Hiller would be a huge addition to Alabama's 2027 class

Kalen DeBoer and Alabama are getting off to a quicker start in the 2027 class than they typically have. The Crimson Tide already holds four commitments in a class that ranks No. 10 nationally. That's a ranking that is sure to rise in the coming months.

Along with Hiller, Alabama has continued to trend for 5-star Elijah Haven, the No. 1 QB in the 2027 class. He was also among the impressive group of visitors over the weekend for the LSU game. It was Haven's second trip to Tuscaloosa in just a few weeks. He was also in town for the Crimson Tide's win over Tennessee.

Haven and Hiller would be two major additions to the Tide's class and provide early cornerstones as DeBoer pursues a third consecutive top-five class.

Alabama signed a top-five class in the 2025 cycle, DeBoer's first cycle as the Tide's head coach. They are in position to do it again in 2026 with a class that currently ranks No. 3 in the composite.

A commitment from Hiller would give Alabama a significant head start toward doing it again.
