  • No. 12 - South Carolina Gamecocks (2-0) - Vandy's victory over Virginia Tech devalues South Carolina's opening week win over the Hokies. Additionally, the Gamecocks were not impressive in winning 38-10 over South Carolina State.
  • No. 11 - Vanderbilt Commodores (2-0) - The Dores get the slightest of ranking nods over South Carolina by winning on the road over Virginia Tech (44-20).
  • No. 10 - Auburn Tigers (2-0) - Yes, Auburn is a better team than last season, but Ball State is arguably the worst FBS team, making Auburn's 42 points against such a lightweight unimpressive.
  • No. 9 - Missouri Tigers (2-0) - The Tigers got a big comeback win over the rival Kansas Jayhawks 42-31. New Missouri quarterback Beau Pribula was impressive, but I'm not sure how good Kansas is.
  • No. 8 - Texas A&M Aggies (2-0) - The Aggies may develop into a top SEC team, but the schedule so far does not rate a higher ranking.
  • No. 7 - Oklahoma Sooners (2-0) - In Norman, the Sooners got an important win over the Michigan Wolverines (24-13). So far, Michigan only qualifies as a mid-level Big Ten team.
