A new ranking for Alabama in Week 9 SEC Football Power Rankings

Which team is ranked higher, the Alabama Crimson Tide or LSU Bayou Bengals?

Power ranking college football teams is always subjective. Picking the top and bottom edges of a conference is relatively straightforward. But below the top three and above the bottom three, choices are tougher. That's where Alabama and most of the SEC are now; tough to rank.

This week, I'm combining sources: the Tennessee and Alabama USA Today sites, and the FanSided site Fly War Eagle, plus my Bama Hammer rankings.

I use my rankings as the basis for presentation, not because I rank them better than the others. I have long appreciated the work of Matt Melton (RollTide Wire), and Andrew Hughes at Fly War Eagle, and other sites.

Week 8 SEC Football Power Rankings

  • No. 1 - Georgia Bulldogs (6-1) and (SEC 4-1) - Other power rankings are No. 1, No. 1 and No. 2
  • No. 2 - Kentucky Wildcats (7-1, 5-1) - Other rankings, No. 2, No. 2, and No. 1
  • No. 3 - LSU Bengal Tigers (6-2, 3-2) - Other rankings, No. 3, No. 3, and No. 5 - Note, I believe LSU is better than Kentucky, but give the Wildcats the nod based on beating the Bengal Tigers.
  • No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (6-2, 4-2) - Other rankings, No. 7 (Vols Wire), No. 6, and No. 3
  • No. 5 Texas Longhorns (5-2, 2-2) - Other rankings, No. 4, No. 9 (RollTide Wire), and No. 6
  • No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels (5-2, 3-2) - Other rankings, No. 5, No. 4, and No. 7
  • No. 7 Tennessee Vols (6-2, 3-2) - Other rankings, No. 6, No. 5, and No. 8
  • No. 8 Florida Gators (5-2, 3-2) - Other rankings, No. 9, No. 8, and No. 4 (Fly War Eagle)
