Alabama basketball might be short-handed in Tuesday night's Top 25 matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels in Coleman Coliseum.

According to the availability report released on Monday night, Alabama will, as expected, be without Houston Mallette. Mallette missed the Texas A&M game, too, and could ultimately miss the remainder of the season as the Crimson Tide pursues a medical redshirt for the senior transfer from Pepperdine who is still dealing with lingering knee issues that prevented him from practicing over the summer.

While that wasn't a surprise, there was an unexpected name on the availability report. Freshman wing Derrion Reid is listed as questionable for the game against Ole Miss. The reasoning for Reid being questionable is unknown as Nate Oats did not provide any kind of update on him during his media availability on Monday.

Reid missed the South Dakota State came a couple of weeks ago with an ankle injury, but he has played the last three games and didn't show signs of any lingering issues.

With Mallette out, along with the season-ending injury to Latrell Wrightsell and the Crimson Tide using a redshirt on freshman Naas Cunningham, Alabama is already down to 10 available scholarship players. That number would drop to 9 without Reid.

With Reid potentially out, Alabama will likely look to squeeze more minutes out of sophomores Jarin Stevenson and Mo Dioubate. The Tide's quality depth comes in handy for situations like these, but dressing nine scholarship players can get a little dicey if foul trouble becomes an issue as it did on Saturday at Texas A&M.

Alabama is currently a 10.5-point favorite over Ole Miss, per FanDuel.
