Nate Oats and Alabama will look to take another step forward in their second game of the regular season on Friday night vs. Arkansas State. The Crimson Tide got off to a strong start to the season with a 96-74 win over Sam Houston on Tuesday night at Coleman.

They are back at Coleman again tonight and will see a step up in competition against Arkansas State. The Red Wolves are the preseason favorites in the Sun Belt and are off to a 1-0 start to the season after a one-point win over Toledo on Monday.

Arkansas State is coached by former Alabama assistant Ryan Pannone, who was on Oats' staff from 2023-25. He led the Red Wolves to a 20-win season a year ago, and a bigger step is expected in year two as a legitimate threat to get to the NCAA Tournament.

Arkansas State has a bevy of talented guards, led by former D-II star Tameron Ferguson, who dropped 20 points in his Red Wolves debut.

For Alabama, this will be the last game without star guard Aden Holloway, who will serve the final game of his suspension before making his 2026-27 debut next week.
