Alabama is doing what it can to hang on to 2027 TE commitment Colt Lumpris, who pledged to the Crimson Tide back in December. But Michigan is not making it easy.

Other programs are in hot pursuit of the 6-foot-6 4-star TE, and he's got visits set up with Penn State and Texas A&M to go along with Alabama and Michigan, but it's becoming clearer with each passing day that the Wolverines represent the biggest threat to flip him away from the Crimson Tide.

Michigan is pulling out all the stops for Lumpris, and changing his official visit date is the latest chess move being employed by new head coach Kyle Whittingham.

Lumpris' official visit to Michigan was recently rescheduled from June 5th to June 19th, which is "Victors Weekend" for the Wolverines, where he'll be flanked by 19 other official visitors:

Alabama commit Colt Lumpris to visit Michigan on "Victors Weekend"

The good news for Kalen DeBoer is that he'll have Lumpris on campus for Alabama's biggest recruiting weekend of the summer, too. Two can play at that game.

Lumpris is scheduled to visit the Crimson Tide over the Memorial Day Weekend, which has traditionally been the biggest summer recruiting weekend for Alabama. Alabama will have a plethora of top targets and commitments on campus that weekend, and if there's anything that we know about DeBoer and his staff's recruiting ability, it's that they know how to host an official visitor.

They've won many recruiting battles thanks to that fact, and they'll look to lock Lumpris in that weekend and further distance themselves from Michigan.

It won't be easy, however. The Wolverines are a serious threat to flip him.

Lumpris is one of just five commitments for the Crimson Tide in the 2027 class so far. The slow start has been typical, with Alabama going on major recruiting runs in back-to-back summers to land Top 5 classes in consecutive cycles.

The recent commitment of 5-star QB Elijah Haven, the nation's No. 1 QB in the 2027 class, gave Alabama some much-needed momentum on the trail that should carry over, regardless of what Lumpris ultimately decides.
