Alabama is aggressively pursuing top talent in the 2028 recruiting class. After a lighter-than-normal 2027 cycle (by design), Kalen DeBoer and his staff will be looking to sign a top class again in 2028, just as they did during the 2025 and 2026 cycles.
Alabama already has five commitments for the 2028 class, and they rank 2nd nationally in the composite rankings. The class is headlined by a trio of 4-star prospects: DE Tysir Young, QB Kingston Preyear, and CB Braylen Gibbs.
They could be closing in on their biggest fish to date.
4-star DL Tyzon Swann, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound prospect out of Indian Hills, Maryland, is one of the top prospects on the board for Alabama in 2028. He's currently ranked as the No. 33 overall player in the composite.
And as things stand, everyone is looking up at Alabama in his recruitment:
Tyzon Swann is a top DL target for Alabama in 2028, and the Top-50 talent was back in Tuscaloosa over the weekend.

Steve Wiltfong logs a prediction for Alabama to land elite DL Tyzon Swann
Swann was back in Tuscaloosa for another unofficial visit this past weekend, and he reiterated that Alabama was his No. 1 school. He named the Crimson Tide his leader back in August.
On Monday, On3/Rivals VP Steve Wiltfong logged an expert prediction for Swann to ultimately choose the Crimson Tide, per the Rivals Prediction Machine.
As you might expect, Swann is one of the most coveted defensive prospects in the country. He blew up during a sophomore season that saw him rack up 16 sacks. Alabama might be the leader, but there's a long way to go in his recruitment, with the 2028 early signing period still over 13 months away.
Swann has an impressive offer list, featuring schools such as Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and USC, among a plethora of others.
In-state Maryland is seen as a real threat, but they just fired head coach Mike Locksley, so his interest in the Terps will likely be contingent on who they hire to replace him.
At his size, Swann likely projects as a Bandit DE in Alabama's current defensive scheme. He'll have to put on some weight, obviously, but with his frame, that was inevitable once he set foot into a college strength and conditioning program.
Swann would be a huge addition to this class and help build more momentum for DeBoer and the staff in the 2028 cycle.
It's shaping up to be another elite class as DeBoer keeps stockpiling talent for the future in Tuscaloosa.
