A wrap-up of Alabama Crimson Tide news and notes from Easter weekend:
Justin Thomas wins RBC Heritage Tournament
Former Alabama golfer Justin Thomas ended a three-year PGA Tour drought by winning the RBC Heritage on a clutch putt on the first playoff hole on Sunday.
Thomas shot a bogey-free, final round 68 and drained a putt from 20+ feet to beat Andrew Novak. It was Thomas's first PGA Tour win since 2022, and it moved him back into the Top 10 in the World Golf Rankings.
This was Thomas' 16th win on Tour and a return to form for the two-time Major champion.
Transfer Portal Tight End Brody Dalton set to visit Alabama on Tuesday
The spring Transfer Portal window has been slow for Alabama. They haven't added anyone, but they also haven't lost a single player, either. That's a welcome sight for Tide fans after dealing with the portal window following Nick Saban's retirement a year ago.
But Kalen DeBoer and company are looking to make an addition or two around the margins. One of their main targets is Troy tight end Brody Dalton, who is scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa on Tuesday.
Dalton has a single year of eligibility remaining after spending two seasons at Troy following a single season at UAB. This past season, Dalton caught 15 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns. His stats aren't eye-popping, but at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, he has the frame DeBoer and company are looking for out of an in-line tight end.
Baseball drops two out of three at LSU
Alabama baseball dropped its third consecutive SEC series by dropping two out of three in Baton Rouge against No. 9 LSU. The Tigers took the first two games of the series before the Crimson Tide grabbed a win on Saturday to avoid the sweep.
Alabama blew a 5-1 lead in Thursday's series opener and fell 11-6 as the bullpen fell apart. Riley Quick struggled in his Friday start, and Alabama's bats fell dormant in a 4-3 defeat. On Saturday, the Crimson Tide got a great start from Zane Adams and a three-run homer by Richie Bonomolo Jr. on the way to a 7-4 win.
Alabama will now face Samford in a mid-week matchup before hosting the worst team in the SEC this year, the winless in conference play Missouri Tigers.
Softball loses two of three to Florida in Gainesville
Following an emotional series win over Oklahoma in Tuscaloosa last weekend, Pat Murphy's team brought a lot of momentum with them to Gainesville to take on a Top 10 Florida team on the road. The Tide got off to a great start, beating the Gators 7-4 in the series opener.
Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. Florida won Friday's matchup 12-4 in just five innings. On Saturday, Alabama blew a 3-2 7th inning lead and watched the Gators win on a Korbe Otis walk-off single.
The loss dropped Alabama to 31-18 overall and 8-10 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide face Alabama State in a mid-week matchup and then will host Missouri over the weekend in Tuscaloosa.
