Alabama Crimson Tide news and notes:

Alabama men's basketball tops Ole Miss 92-84 in Ballin in Boutwell exhibition

Nate Oats got exactly what he wanted on Thursday night in the Ballin in Boutwell exhibition. Alabama faced a legitimate test from SEC foe Ole Miss, and the Crimson Tide earned a 92-84 win. Alabama led by as many as 18, but Ole Miss fought back and made it a close game down the stretch, forcing the Crimson Tide to execute in some tense moments to earn the win.

Amari Allen led the way with 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists. NC State transfer Cole Cloer continues to look like a revelation: he scored 18 points and handed out four assists while showcasing an impressive offensive repertoire.

London Jemison (13), Qayden Samuels (12), Jamarion Davis-Fleming (12), and Drew Fielder (11) also finished in double figures. Fielder added 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Alabama's halfcourt defense impressed, with the majority of Ole Miss' damage coming off 20 Tide turnovers. The turnovers were concerning, but not surprising, with two of the team's three primary ball handlers - Aden Holloway and Anderson Diaz - being out.

Alabama is now 2-0 in its exhibition slate. They'll get one more preseason tune-up next Thursday against Auburn in "The Feud" in Birmingham. Alabama opens the regular season on November 3rd in Tuscaloosa against Sam Houston.

Alabama women's basketball rolls over UAH in exhibition in Pauline Love's debut

The Pauline Love era got started on Thursday afternoon in Boutwell Auditorium with Alabama rolling to a 105-62 over the University of Alabama-Huntsville. Alabama outscored UAH 30-7 in the first quarter and never really looked back.

Sophomore guard Ace Austin led the way with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. She knocked down 5-of-10 three-pointers, and as a team the Crimson Tide hit an impressive 15-of-30 from beyond the arc.

Amirah Anderson (18), Mykelle Richards (14), Tianna Chambers (12), and Alayna West (12) also finished in double-figures scoring.

The women's team will have one more exhibition matchup on October 27th against Mississippi College in Tuscaloosa. They open the regular season on November 2nd against Queens at home.

Racin Delgatty downgraded to doubtful for Alabama at Tennessee

Alabama will likely be without starting center Racin Delgatty this weekend in Knoxville. After he was listed as questionable on Wednesday night's initial availability report, the Cal Poly transfer was downgraded to doubtful on Thursday. That paves the way for sophomore Mal Waldrep to get his first career start at center.

It's a tough spot for Waldrep. He'll have to contend with star Tennessee DT Xavier Gilliam, who is one of the best players in the country, regardless of position. Along with that, he'll have to navigate the raucous road environment.

Being without an experienced center is a tough blow for Alabama and sophomore QB Keelon Russell. The communication between Russell and Waldrep will be paramount to the Crimson Tide's success and having a clean operation on Saturday afternoon.

Alabama soccer earns 3-0 shutout win over Georgia

Alabama soccer bounced back from a loss in Gainesville to get back on track with a 3-0 shutout win over Georgia on Thursday. It was the ninth shutout of the season for keeper Madi Munguia, who is now one shy of the program record.

Kennedy Garcia and Ashley Roni netted goals in the first half to put the Tide ahead 2-0 at the break. Melina Rebimbas added a third goal early in the second half for good measure.

Alabama is now 13-2 overall and 6-1 in SEC play. The Tide sits in second place in the SEC standings, just one point behind Vanderbilt. On Sunday, the Crimson Tide hosts the Commodores in a pivotal matchup in Tuscaloosa.
