Alabama Crimson Tide News: Sabb injury update, hoops signs three, Iron Bowl kick time
It was unsurprisingly a busy Monday for Alabama Crimson Tide news. With both football and basketball seasons in full swing, there are plenty of things happening constantly.
For Alabama football, the Crimson Tide is sitting at 8-2 heading into its final two regular season games. Alabama goes to Norman this weekend to face off with SEC newcomer Oklahoma before coming back home to Tuscaloosa to take on Auburn in the Iron Bowl. If Alabama wins out, it's likely to find itself in Atlanta playing for the SEC Championship, a feat that seemed improbable following the loss to Tennessee last month.
For Alabama basketball, the Crimson Tide is 3-1 coming off of its first loss of the season, a road defeat at the hands of Purdue. Alabama will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night in Birmingham against Illinois.
Kalen DeBoer updates injury status of Keon Sabb
There seemed to be little optimism that Keon Sabb would be able to return this season following his injury against Tennessee, but head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed in his news conference on Monday that Sabb would miss the remainder of the season.
However, DeBoer did say he expects Sabb to be back and ready to roll in 2025. Some have expected Sabb to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, but his injury seems to have changed his mind and will lead him back to Tuscaloosa next season.
Kickoff time announced for the Iron Bowl
Alabama's regular-season finale against Auburn in the Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa officially has its kickoff time set. The Crimson Tide and Tigers will face off on ABC at 2:30 PM CT.
It's a typical kickoff time for the Iron Bowl, albeit on a new network with ABC/ESPN having the rights for the SEC now instead of CBS.
Alabama QB commit Keelon Russell makes big jump in On3 rankings
Alabama QB commit Keelon Russell has enjoyed a meteoric recruiting rise thanks to winning Elite 11 MVP over the summer and then his dominance on the field as a senior. The one-time SMU commit flipped his pledge to Alabama and is the prize of the Crimson Tide's 2025 class.
On Monday, On3 released its updated recruiting rankings and Russell moved all the way up to No. 3 overall and the No. 2 QB behind only LSU's Bryce Underwood.
Russell is now a 5-star in all four major recruiting services and has solidified himself as one of the top prospects in the country.
Alabama basketball inks three signees in 2025 class
The early signing period opened for college basketball, and Nate Oats and company locked down and officially landed the signatures of the three committed players in its class.
4-stars Amari Allen, London Jemison, and Davion Hannah all made their signings with the Crimson Tide official on Monday.
Hannah was the most recent addition to the class, verbally pledging to Alabama on Friday right before the Crimson Tide's matchup with Purdue.
Hoops drops in polls
Following the road loss to Purdue on Friday night, Alabama basketball dropped from its perch at No. 2 in both the AP and Coaches Polls.
Alabama is now No. 7 in the Coaches Poll and No. 8 in the AP Poll following its first loss of the season. The Crimson Tide will be looking to get back on track on Wednesday night in Birmingham as No. 25 Illinois comes to town for Alabama's 2nd straight Top-25 matchup.
