Alabama Crimson Tide news and notes from Monday and Tuesday, April 21st and 22nd:

Alabama baseball remains perfect in midweek games

Alabama baseball remained undefeated in midweek games by beating Samford 11-7 in Birmingham on Tuesday night in a game that was delayed by rain.

Bobby Alcock got the start and struggled with his control. He was replaced early by Aeden Finateri and then JT Blackwood, who combined to give up six runs in less than four innings of work. Fortunately, things settled when Rob Vaughn got deep into his bullpen. Connor Lehman, Austin Morris, Hagan Banks, and Carson Ozmer combined to shutout the Bulldogs over the final four innings.

Will Hodo homered in the 2nd inning and then added a two-run single in the 8th inning to add some insurance runs. The game was tied going into the 8th inning before Justin Lebron reached base, stole second, and ultimately scored on a wild pitch to put Alabama up 8-7. Hodo's RBI single gave the Crimson Tide a little bit of separation.

Alabama moved to 32-10 overall on the season. This weekend, Alabama welcomes Missouri to Tuscaloosa. The Tigers are winless in the SEC and the Crimson Tide needs to make sure that doesn't change.

Alabama softball rolls over Alabama State

Alabama had little trouble dispatching Alabama State on Tuesday night, rolling to a 7-0 win over the Hornets.

Braya Hodges, Alea Johnson, and Emily Winstead combined to allow just two hits, striking out 11 in a dominant performance on the mound.

Mari Hubbard got the party started offensively with a 1st inning, two-run triple. Alexis Pupilo added a homerun later as the Crimson Tide cruised to a win.

Patrick Murphy and his team will face Missouri this weekend in Tuscaloosa.

Kristy Curry, Alabama Women's Basketball add a transfer

It won't be easy to replace the production Alabama got from talented players like Sarah Ashlee Barker, Aaliyah Nye, and Zaay Green, all of whom were selected in the WNBA Draft last week.

Curry has found plenty of success in the Transfer Portal, however. Both Barker and Nye were brought to Tuscaloosa that way from other programs.

On Monday, Curry got a commitment from perhaps her next star in Tuscaloosa. MTSU guard Ta'mia Scott announced her commitment to the Crimson Tide. She's coming off a season for the Blue Raiders where she averaged 16.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while connecting on 36% of her attempts from three.

Todd McShay shared a hilarious Nick Saban story

In an appearance on The Triple Option podcast, co-hosted by former Alabama Heisman Trophy winning RB Mark Ingram, Todd McShay shared a hilarious story about Nick Saban and the NFL Draft.

McShay has long been one of the top NFL Draft gurus and he apparently endured a butt-chewing or two from Saban over the years due to his evaluations of some Crimson Tide players that Saban disagreed with:
