Former 5-star WR Cam Coleman announced on Monday that he intends to enter the Transfer Portal when it opens on January 2nd. The Auburn WR instantly becomes one of the top names in the portal and will be coveted by every program in the country.
That includes Alabama, which might have a couple of different inroads with the star WR.
Alabama recently hired former Auburn OC Derrick Nix to be the Crimson Tide's WR coach, replacing JaMarcus Shephard, who left to be the head coach at Oregon State.
There's also sophomore Alabama defensive back Red Morgan, who was a teammate and friend of Coleman's at Central Phenix City during their high school days. Morgan took little time after the announcement to take to social media and make a pitch for Coleman to join him in Tuscaloosa:

Red Morgan makes a pitch for Cam Coleman to transfer to Alabama
Coleman is one of the nation's best wide receivers and a likely first-round draft pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Despite shaky (at best) QB play during his two years at Auburn, the Alabama native still produced 1306 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. That includes 708 yards during his sophomore campaign on the Plains.
Coleman is a matchup nightmare with his size (6-foot-3) and athletic ability. He's one of the best in the country at making contested catches, and he will draw interest near and far.
Alabama will undoubtedly kick the tires, but it remains to be seen what Coleman might prioritize in the portal. If he wants to chase a bag, he'll most certainly get thrown a substantial one. It just won't be by Alabama.
Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide have bigger priorities this offseason than at WR, and they aren't going to blow the budget to try and land a receiver, even one as talented as Coleman.
But if he's willing to take less money, he's certainly an exceptional fit for DeBoer and OC Ryan Grubb's offensive scheme, and he'd join an offense with a lot of talent surrounding him and would get the opportunity to finally play in big games on a team coming off a College Football Playoff bid.
Coleman's portal recruitment will be one of the biggest storylines once the Transfer Portal officially opens on Friday.
