Blowouts are a part of the college football postseason. There is no way around it. The Alabama Crimson Tide got their teeth kicked in during the Rose Bowl vs. the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers, 38-3. Alabama initially tried to match the physicality of Indiana defensively, but once it became readily apparent that this team could not run the football at all, Indiana ran all over them to the Peach Bowl.

While Alabama earned the right to be the No. 9 seed in the expanded College Football Playoff, their fourth loss of the season was perhaps the most jarring. Regular-season defeats to Florida State and Oklahoma were one thing. Getting clobbered in the SEC Championship Game rematch to Georgia was another. Essentially getting dog walked by Curt Cignetti and Fernando Mendoza was so brutal.

As Alabama's season started to come to an end in real time, the Crimson Tide faithful were furious.

Alabama fans are totally done with Kalen DeBoer as their head coach

As the national quarterfinal went along, Kalen DeBoer looked less and less like the next Nick Saban.

People were livid about keeping Austin Mack on the bench, as well as DeBoer attempting field goals.

The most damning remarks of all is everyone was pointing at DeBoer for Alabama's recent demise.

DeBoer is an excellent head coach, but he is clearly not in the same discussion as Curt Cignetti.

What seems to be Alabama fans' biggest beef with Kalen DeBoer now?

From an unbiased standpoint, here is the single biggest thing that is plaguing Alabama under DeBoer right now. He has allowed the once-dominant Crimson Tide to become a West Coat finesse team. His Crimson Tide are closer to teams Lincoln Riley oversees than some of the earlier Saban teams where he was trying to figure out what Alabama had working for it. Alabama team lacks heart in key areas.

It all starts with Alabama never being a factor in the running game under DeBoer's guidance. This was an issue for him at Washington. It is what cost offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb his job as the Seattle Seahawks' offensive coordinator after only one season. If you do not find ways to inflict pain on the opposing defense, they are going to make you pay for it as the game goes along in crucial situations.

In short, Alabama has a near approximation of the type of players it had under Saban, but not necessarily the same killer instinct. This team no longer has the necessary grit to come out of the SEC and scare the rest of college football. Maybe in time Alabama can find it? However, it seems highly unlikely that unless DeBoer takes it upon himself to evolve that he is ever going to find it...

Overall, Alabama is riding a two-game losing streak after playing arguably the two best teams in the sport back-to-back in Georgia and now Indiana. Depending on what happens in the Sugar Bowl, these teams seem to be on a collision course for the national title bout over in Miami. Playing for a national championship as the No. 9 was always going to be hard for Alabama, but Indiana made it look so easy.

While there is plenty of blame to go around for this Alabama loss, DeBoer has to eat a good bit of it.
