Alabama football fans and Georgia fans have unpleasant tasks on Saturday
By Ronald Evans
The 2024 college football season has reached a point when team resumes become important. Resumes will be evaluated not just on wins and losses but on the quality of the wins and losses. Alabama Football has a Playoff advantage from having the biggest win of the 2024 season by beating the Georgia Bulldogs.
Alabama's Playoff chances will remain enhanced as long as the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs keep winning. The other factor is Playoff seeding. If Georgia wins out, and possibly even if the Bulldogs lose an SEC Championship Game, Alabama will benefit with a higher seeding. Alabama fans may not like it, but on Saturday afternoon in Oxford, the Bulldogs must beat the Ole Miss Rebels.
It might be even harder for Georgia fans to root for the Crimson Tide against LSU. If Georgia wins out in the regular season and loses the SEC Championship Game, the Bulldogs will still make the Playoffs. Their Playoff seeding will be higher if the Crimson Tide finishes the regular season at 10-2.
So on Saturday it's Go Dawgs for Crimson Tide fans and Roll Tide for Georgia fans. An example of making unpleasant choices about a game comes from the LSU student media outlet, Reville. The platform's six sports reporters made game predictions for Saturday night. Four of the six predicted an Alabama win.
LSU reporters predict an Alabama Football win
Writing for the Reville Martin Sullivan stated, "It doesn’t help that he (Milroe) has super weapon Ryan Williams on the outside. Not even a legal adult, Williams is still the caliber of player who cannot be shut down, only limited. An LSU win would take a number of key players having career best games."
Sullivan's prediction is Alabama 37 - LSU 28
Any Georgia fans finding it hard to stomach rooting for the Crimson Tide can take solace from David Pollack's prediction. If Pollack can stand predicting an Alabama win, as he did, Georgia fans can root for the Crimson Tide.
