It had been a rough last week of recruiting for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama football with three players in the 2025 class decommitting. On Monday, the Crimson Tide got some much needed good news on the recruiting trail when 4-star safety Ivan Taylor announced his flip from Michigan to Alabama.

Taylor has long been rumored as a flip target for Alabama. He was originally a Notre Dame commitment but flipped to Michigan over the summer but maintained interest in Alabama.

The news of Taylor's flip comes at a great time following a rough week on the trail for DeBoer. Last week, 5-star WR Caleb Cunningham flipped his commitment from Alabama to Ole Miss following his visit to Oxford for Ole Miss' upset win over Georgia.

Following that, 4-star LB Dawson Merritt flipped to Nebraska. Finally, on Sunday, 4-star RB Anthony "Turbo" Rogers announced he had decommitted from the Crimson Tide. Losing that trio dropped Alabama from the No. 2 to the No. 4 ranked class in the 247 composite rankings.

Even though those three losses should not have led to panic among the Alabama fanbase, landing Taylor on Monday night was much-needed good news.

Taylor is from Winter Garden, Florida, and is the son of former NFL CB Ike Taylor. He is ranked as the No. 41 player and the No. 2 safety in the 247 composite rankings. Taylor will start his Alabama career as a safety but has the ability to shift inside and play slot corner if needed.
