During the offseason, some credible sources described the Alabama Football quarterback room as having the deepest talent in college football. After Saturday night in Bryant-Denny Stadium, a new claim can be made. Alabama is not just the team with the deepest quarterback talent. Alabama's top three QBs are the top quarterbacking trio in college football.

The offensive explosion against Louisiana-Monroe justifies the claim. Although impressive as it was, it did not provide proof. Continued success against much stiffer defenses will be needed for proof. Until then, Alabama football fans can revel in the Crimson Tide's record-setting quarterbacks.

Celebrating the Alabama Crimson Tide must not ignore the weakness of the ULM team. Even if ULM played its best, and even if Alabama had helped them with miscues, the Warhawks had no chance to win the game. The 73-0 pasting was very much a perfect storm for ULM, with the Alabama Crimson Tide being driven to prove a point to itself.

Speaking of records, Ty Simpson set an Alabama Football and SEC record with a perfect completion performance of 17-for-17. No two Alabama or other SEC quarterbacks ever completed their first 21 passes in a game, as Simpson and Austin Mack did against the Warhawks.

Ty Simpson finished the game with 226 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. He ran for a fourth touchdown. Austin Mack was 8-for-10, totaling 80 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman Keelon Russell was 4-for-6 for 60 yards and also had two passing touchdowns. The Passer Ratings for the Crimson Tide quarterbacks were stunning. Ty Simpson posted a 269.8 rating. Russell was 267.7, and Mack was 213.2.

After the game, Kalen DeBoer spoke about Simpson, "I thought the game was slower for him. ... That's what you needed to see. I'm proud of how he went to work."

Alabama Football Perspectives

DeBoer also reminded everyone, players and fans, that perspective is needed, "It’s one game. We have to continue to sustain the intensity and focus… I like that they (Alabama players) didn’t really look at the scoreboard, ever, and focused on being their best."

Another perspective is valuable. Based on the ULM game, Alabama has all the quarterbacking it needs to win and win big in the 2025 season.
