Alabama football lands two on 247Sports' midseason freshman All-American team
247Sports released its midseason freshman All-American team and two Alabama football standouts made the list.
It should be noted that only true freshmen are considered, so standout defenders like Qua Russaw and James Smith were not eligible.
Sensational freshman WR Ryan Williams and CB Zabien Brown were the two representatives for the Crimson Tide.
Williams leads the nation in yards-per-catch at a ridiculous 25.0 mark. He's caught 23 passes for 576 yards and six touchdowns in his first six games. Last week's game against South Carolina was the first time this season he didn't record a touchdown reception.
The level of competition hasn't faced the 17-year-old. He saved his best and most miraculous play in the biggest moment against Georgia, catching a 75 yard touchdown with a little over two minutes to play after Alabama had just surrendered the lead for the first time.
The other hero for Alabama against the Bulldogs was freshman corner Zabien Brown. Brown made the game sealing interception of Carson Beck in the endzone to preserve the 41-34 Tide victory.
Brown was considered a college ready true freshman coming in, and he has been a plug and play starter for Alabama right away.
After losing Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold to the NFL, and Trey Amos transferring to Ole Miss, Alabama had a lot to replace at corner this season. USC transfer Domani Jackson has been as advertised, but Brown has been the best of a talented trio of true freshmen corners who have seen playing time.
