The quarterback controversy is officially over for Alabama football and we know that Ty Simpson will be leading the offense out onto the field once Week 1 gets here. The decision was announced on Tuesday and now people have been racing to shower Simpson with love.
The long list includes former Alabama superstar and NFL first-round pick Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Clinton-Dix was a two-time National Champion with the Tide and he's obviously keeping a close eye on the program now that Kalen DeBoer is entering Year 2 in Tuscaloosa.
He has also paid attention to the QB battle and what Simpson has done to get to this point. Keep in mind that Simpson has been patiently waiting for his shot to run the offense after first joining the program leading up to the 2022 campaign. It's now his turn and Clinton-Dix could not be happier for him.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is thrilled for Ty Simpson winning the Alabama QB job
“Wow, I’m not surprised at all,” Clinton-Dix said. “The way this kid comes to work each and every day, the way he works his tail off, the way he leads by example - he’s waited his turn. When I came in as a freshman, I wasn’t able to play, I had to redefine myself and figure out what I had to work on as an individual. The one thing about Ty is he’s always been the guy trying to figure out how he can get better. Learning from Bryce (Young), learning from Jalen Milroe and applying it to his game. Ty’s ready. I’m excited to see him keep working.”
Way back in December 2021, Simpson signed with the Tide as a 5-star prospect and the No. 3 quarterback in the country. Unfortunately for him, he had to wait behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe before he could prove to the rest of the country that he's not a 5-star bust.
Simpson was in a camp battle with Austin Mack and true freshman Keelon Russell, but he's had a clear lead ever since spring ball. Simpson called it a 'dream come true' to be named Alabama's starting QB, but he also understands the pressure that comes with that honor.
The good news for Simpson is that countless fans know what he's capable of. People are ready to back him as he gets ready for a crucial Bama campaign. It's got to build his confidence that someone like Clinton-Dix is publicly giving him so much support too. Again, things won't be easy for Simpson, but DeBoer and Co. have all the confidence in the world that he can power the Tide to the College Football Playoff this year.
