Alabama football opens as two-touchdown favorite over Auburn in the Iron Bowl

While the Alabama football team is fully focused on its trip to Norman to take on Oklahoma on Saturday night, FanDuel has released early odds for next week's Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa.

Per the Sportsbook, Alabama is a 14.5 point favorite over Auburn next weekend at Bryant-Denny.

Alabama is riding a four-game winning streak in the Iron Bowl that has Auburn fans fearing the thumb. Last season's Iron Bowl on the Plains was an all-timer. Alabama, trailing 24-20 with under a minute to go faced a 4th-and-goal from the 31-yard-line..

What happened next will forever be part of Iron Bowl lore. Auburn foolishly rushed just two guys and gave Jalen Milroe plenty of time to find Isaiah Bond in the corner of the endzone for the game-winning touchdown to give the Tide an improbable 27-24 victory.

While the Iron Bowl is always a source of anxiety for Alabama fans regardless of either team's record, Alabama has been pretty dominant at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide hasn't lost a home Iron Bowl since 2010.

The stakes could be pretty high next week when Auburn makes the trek to Tuscaloosa. If Alabama beats Oklahoma, then the Crimson Tide will likely be a win away from clinching a spot in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game, which I think would likely also clinch a playoff berth.

For Auburn, if they can upset Texas A&M at Jordan-Hare Stadium, the Tigers will be an upset win over Alabama away from garnering improbable bowl eligibility after a 2-5 start to the season.
