A lot of times, the biggest transition from high school to college happens in the weight room. Guys have to get bigger and stronger to withstand the rigors of major college football, and it's that, more than technical refinement, that keeps younger players off the field.
That won't be a problem for Alabama 5-star freshman CB Dijon Lee.
In a photo shared over the weekend, Lee looks more like a Greek God than a football player. He certainly doesn't look like a freshman cornerback.

That's Lee on the far left, towering above everyone else, and looking superhuman. The former 5-star recruit is a big dude. He stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs over 200 pounds. He's not your typical corner in size, but he has track speed to boot. Good luck to any quarterbacks looking to fit it through a tight window with him lurking over the next few years.
Dijon Lee looks ready to contribute as a freshman at Alabama
Alabama brought back its starting corners from last season in Domani Jackson and Zabien Brown. They also added Cam Calhoun from Utah in the Transfer Portal, a player with experience and pedigree. And despite that, Dijon Lee looks like he's going to earn immediate playing time in Alabama's secondary.
Lee was one of the stars of spring practice. He and fellow freshman Lotzeir Brooks at WR were revelations, and had all of Tuscaloosa buzzing about their potential and their ability to contribute immediately.
Lee probably won't start, but Kane Wommack showed a willingness last season to rotate defensive backs to keep everyone fresh. That will open quick playing time for Lee. If either Jackson or Brown struggles, they might have a shorter leash than they had a year ago, with Lee and Calhoun pushing for more playing time.
He has the coverage skills for a corner, but Lee is built more like a safety, and his high school tape shows a kid who is not afraid to attack ball carriers with physicality. Lee should carve out an early role in the red zone, with his ability to tackle, along with his length, making already tight windows inside the 20 even tighter.
Wommack and DB coach Maurice Linguist have prioritized size and length in recruiting DBs. Fellow freshman CB Chuck McDonald is certainly not small, and Alabama has a commitment from another big corner in the 2026 class: 5-star Jorden Edmonds, who stands at 6-foot-3.
With fall camp starting on Wednesday, a lot of eyes will be on Lee as he looks to make his move up the depth chart.
