Alabama is hosting an impressive group of official visitors this weekend for the LSU game. It's a huge weekend for the Crimson Tide as Kalen DeBoer and company look to take a step closer to the College Football Playoff and a spot in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. It's also a pivotal recruiting weekend, particularly for the 2027 class, as Alabama looks to build some early momentum with next year's group of prospects.
One of the highest-ranked official visitors this weekend will be 5-star 2027 OL Ismael Camara, a mammoth 6-foot-6, 340-pound interior lineman from Gilmer, Texas. This will be Camara's first gameday visit to Tuscaloosa, but he took a visit back in the spring for the Tide's Junior Day. It's safe to say he came away more than impressed with that visit.
"When we got into the facility and saw all the nattys, the SEC championships, and Heisman Trophies, I really had the butterflies," Camara told Rivals.
Alabama's rich history and tradition are hard to ignore. For Camara, it was eye-opening. None of that is to mention that no program has sent more players to the NFL over the last 15 years than the Crimson Tide, either.
Ismael Camara is a fast-rising, raw prospect who has an incredibly high ceiling
There may not be another prospect in the 2027 class that has a higher ceiling than Camara. Originally from France, this is Camara's first full season of playing varsity football, and he's already established himself as one of the best prospects in the country.
The 247 composite has him as a 5-star and the No. 34 overall prospect in the class. And that's with limited film. He could continue to climb up the rankings and end up as one of the five or 10 best prospects in this class.
From his scouting report, 247's Gabe Brooks describes Camara as an "immensely gifted offensive line prospect with enormous size and impressive functional athleticism."
Brooks also states that Camara is a "newcomer to football who plays like a veteran."
Camara is a two-way star at Gilmer who could project anywhere on the offensive line or even as a defensive tackle. He's the type of athletic lineman that DeBoer, OC Ryan Grubb, and OL coach Chris Kapilovic have shown to covet in the recruiting process.
Alabama will look to make a big move in the 5-star's recruitment this weekend while he's in town for what should be a raucous gameday environment at Bryant-Denny.
