A week ago, Alabama extended an offer to Nebraska 4-star RB commitment Amir Brown, a native of Rolesville, North Carolina. Brown committed to the Cornhuskers back in November, but the Crimson Tide's offer has resonated in a way that makes them a serious threat to flip the coveted prospect.

We're still over nine months until the early signing period, so there's a lot of recruiting to be done. And Alabama has identified Brown as a priority target and a fit for their system as Kalen DeBoer and company look to revitalize a dormant ground attack.

The offer immediately shook things up for Brown, who told 247's Brett Greenberg that Alabama has been "on my mind every day and every night" since the offer was made.

Alabama is a serious threat to flip Nebraska 4-star RB commitment

Despite Alabama's struggles with the traditional running game in the two seasons under DeBoer, the Tide's rich history of running backs still makes it a serious factor in recruiting the next generation of backs.

Alabama has Heisman Trophy winners Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry, and a plethora of former running backs still going strong in the NFL. That list includes the ageless Henry, Jahmyr Gibbs, Josh Jacobs, Najee Harris, and Brian Robinson Jr.

Alabama is RBU in the NFL, and the last two seasons haven't changed that. With 5-star EJ Crowell joining the Tide's backfield in 2026, a complete overhaul of the offensive line, and several new coaches to boot, it's clear that restoring the ability to effectively run the football has been a significant priority for DeBoer and his staff this offseason.

Part of Alabama's issues, of which there were multiple, in running the football has been misidentifying prospects in recruiting.

Crowell looks like a future superstar, and that could come sooner rather than later.

Brown's future is less certain, but at 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds heading into his senior season of high school football, he certainly looks the part. Under DeBoer, and with a massive helping hand from GM Courtney Morgan, Alabama has successfully identified players in recruiting before they exploded in their final season in the prep ranks.

Perhaps Brown could be the next in line.
