Alabama has already ended the longest winning home winning streak two weeks ago by beating Georgia, and will be looking to end another long winning streak Saturday against Missouri. The Tigers are currently on a 15-game home winning streak, which is currently the second-longest streak in the country behind Oregon.
This will be another opportunity for Kalen DeBoer to improve his road record at Alabama, which sits at 3-4 overall. Coming into the season, of course, there was much concern about how differently the Tide looked on the road compared to at home, and we all know what happened in Tallahassee to start the season.
A lot of this concern was alleviated after winning in Athens, and winning on Saturday in Columbia will further build goodwill between DeBoer and the always critical Alabama fan base. The Tide defense may arguably be facing its biggest test of the season with how well Mizzou runs the ball behind a dominant offensive line. Kane Wommack's defense will have its hands full against one of the best running teams they will see all season. This defensive unit answered the challenge of containing the Vanderbilt rushing attack in the second half last Saturday, and hopefully, we will see that momentum continue on Saturday.
Easier said than done, but of course, to eliminate the chance of a huge upset in Columbia, it will be for Alabama to start off hot. Getting off the field on third down as well as scoring touchdowns in the redzone will be the best ways to kill the confidence of a home team hungry for arguably one of their biggest wins since coming to the SEC. Of course, the other big key will be for Ty Simpson to continue playing smart and limit bad throws, which could turn the momentum of the game. As long as this team comes ready to play and focused like they have since week two of the regular season, expect to see this Alabama team end another long home winning streak before the Third Saturday in October.
