Kameron Howard will enter the Transfer Portal
Howard transferred to Alabama in 2024 after spending his freshman season in 2023 at Charlotte. He was a needed depth piece following the exodus that Kalen DeBoer and company had to withstand after the coaching change in Tuscaloosa with Nick Saban's retirement.
In two seasons at Alabama, Howard participated in six games. He played in four games in 2024 and then two games in 2025, mostly working on special teams but seeing some action in the secondary during garbage time.
With another influx of talent coming in via a loaded 2026 recruiting class, Howard sees the writing on the wall that he'd have to transfer to have a legitimate opportunity at playing time.
According to his player profile on rolltide.com, Howard has not participated in a game since Alabama's Week 3 win over Wisconsin. He also participated in the Week 2 win over UL Monroe.
Howard's departure isn't a huge deal on the field as he wasn't going to have a role in the Rose Bowl unless the Crimson Tide was absolutely decimated by injury.
And he can easily be replaced on the scout team by a couple of incoming freshmen who have joined the team to help prepare for Indiana. 5-star CB Jorden Edmonds and 4-star CB Zyan Gibson are both in Tuscaloosa and practing with the team, giving DeBoer and Kane Wommack a couple of extra bodies to help the team get ready for the New Year's Day showdown in Pasadena.
Howard won't be the last bit of roster attrition Alabama faces in the Transfer Portal this offseason. The portal officially opens on January 2nd and runs through January 16th.
