Alabama's Final Four banner reveal should be an event
Despite it being a football weekend, Alabama Basketball's Final Four banner reveal should be an event and maybe the best part of this sports weekend in Tuscaloosa.
Coming off one of the worst weeks in Alabama Football history, for many fans in town turning to the celebration for the most successful season in Crimson Tide basketball history may be a very welcomed event. To be able to see a Final Four banner raised in Coleman Coliseum is going to be a special event, and one that can' be taken for granted.
The most exciting part of this celebration is how much potential this current team has as well. To think that the nucleus of last year's team is returning to run it back in hopes of cutting down the nets in April 2025 is amazing.
Of course with off-season additions through recruiting and the portal on paper there isn't many, if any teams better in the country. My hopes is tonight's celebration is standing room only because there are many Alabama fans who weren't sure if we ever would see a Final Four appearance, and the way Nate Oats is building this shouldn't be the only banner celebration we see over the next couple of years.
The three point contest should be a fun one for the fans to watch as we know Alabama loves an open three point shot. Dunk contests are my favorite event on any level and if there was a bet to place on the winner new big man Cliff Omoruyi would be my favorite.
I know Alabama will always be a football first school, but I am excited to see basketball joining in the spotlight. There is no reason why the basketball team can't be as successful as we've seen other programs be both in the SEC and other conferences as well. On top of that based on what, we saw last week maybe for a season the University of Alabama will be a basketball school.
