Alabama's amazing regular season now turns into the postseason, starting with the SEC Tournament Thursday afternoon against Arkansas. The Tide have not won the SEC Tournament since 2021, and though there are far bigger goals to achieve this season, it would be nice for this team to go into the NCAA Tournament on fire. The Hogs beat Mississippi State on Wednesday to advance to the Quarterfinals, and they are not a team Alabama can take for granted. For what it is worth, Alabama did win two out of three in Tuscaloosa at the start of March.
Since that matchup, both teams have played great, with both teams only losing one SEC weekend series apiece. This is by far the best Alabama team since they last won the SEC Tournament in 2021, in a season where the Tide made it to the national semifinals.
Alabama has had one of the most consistent pitchers in America all season in Jocelyn Briski, but the most important part about this team is that it has the bats to match the pitching. The lack of hits has been the biggest hurdle for this program over the last couple of seasons, but it seems this team has the needed bats to not only make it to Oklahoma City but make a deep run as well.
If Alabama does beat Arkansas on Thursday afternoon, they will advance to the semifinals, where they will either face off against a top-five team in Florida or archrival Auburn, which has been on a Cinderella run the first few days in Lexington. Of course, there are no easy games in the SEC, so no matter the opponents, we will have to play our best game to survive and advance. However, this team appears built for a deep run this weekend and more importantly over the next few weeks en route to the WCWS.
