Just over a month ago, the narrative was that Kalen DeBoer could not win road games at Alabama. After losing to Florida State in Tallahassee, DeBoer moved to 2-4 in true road games - and 2-5 in games played away from Tuscaloosa.
Fast forward to now, and not only has Alabama won five consecutive games, but they've knocked off two ranked SEC opponents on the road - Georgia and Missouri - in the process. Along the way, they cleared out a couple of teams with longer home winning streaks.
Two weeks ago in Athens, Alabama beat Georgia to end the Bulldogs' nation-leading 33-game home winning streak. On Saturday in CoMo, Alabama's 27-24 win over Missouri ended the Tigers' 15-game home winning streak. With Oregon losing at home to Indiana, the longest home winning streak in the country now belongs to the Crimson Tide.
Alabama now holds the nation's longest home winning streak
Alabama's win over Vanderbilt a week ago was the Crimson Tide's 15th straight win at Bryant-Denny Stadium. DeBoer is a perfect 10-0 in home games as the Alabama head coach. The Tide's last loss in Tuscaloosa was in Week 2 of the 2023 season when Texas knocked off the Crimson Tide 34-24.
Alabama won't get any gimme games anytime soon to build on that home winning streak. The Tide will face a fourth consecutive ranked SEC opponent next weekend when Tennessee comes to Tuscaloosa to renew the Third Saturday in October rivalry.
The Vols would love nothing more than to end the Crimson Tide's nation-leading streak. Alabama will look to avenge last season's loss in Knoxville and avoid a third loss in the last four meetings to Tennessee. The Vols haven't beaten the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa since 2004.
Alabama still has challenging home games on the horizon in November, with both LSU and Oklahoma coming to Bryant-Denny. So if DeBoer and the Crimson Tide want to build on their now nation-leading streak at home, they'll have to earn it.
There are a lot of tough games ahead, and Alabama will need to improve its execution - and get healthier - in order to navigate them.
