It seemed obvious on Thursday, when reporting got out that 4-star WR Osani Gayles was cancelling upcoming visits he had scheduled to both Tennessee and Notre Dame, that it was excellent news for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama.
The Top 50 overall recruit took a visit to Alabama over the final weekend of May, and has also taken officials to both Washington and Stanford. There has been smoke for a while now that the Crimson Tide was ahead in his recruitment, and the elimination of two prime contenders for his services only made that more obvious.
Friday's news has only made that clearer.
Tim Watts and Andrew Bone of BamaOnLine both logged predictions today for Gayles to land with Alabama:

Alabama recruiting experts place predictions for the Crimson Tide to land 4-star WR Osani Gayles
Gayles currently has his commitment scheduled for June 27th, but with the significant smoke surrounding him and Alabama at this point, a decision could ultimately come sooner.
Gayles is an elite prospect who was coveted by pretty much every program in the country. He's ranked as the No. 46 overall player and the No. 8 WR in the 2027 class, according to the 247 composite.
Gayles would instantly become the second-highest-rated commitment in the Tide's 2027 class, behind only 5-star QB Elijah Haven. His commitment would give Alabama the summer momentum on the trail that fans have been waiting for.
Gayles would be the fourth 4-star or higher recruit for Alabama on the offensive side of the ball in this cycle, joining Haven, RB Nigel Newkirk, and QB Trent Seaborn.
This was always going to be a smaller recruiting class for Alabama with the numbers they brought in during the 2026 cycle and the Transfer Portal a few months ago, but that hasn't eased the anxiety of Alabama fans who aren't used to seeing the team rated so low in recruiting. But there aren't a lot of available roster spots right now, with only nine seniors on the 2026 roster.
The reality is that Alabama signed back-to-back Top 5 classes that the coaching staff is extremely high on. The number one priority this next offseason will be retaining as many of those players as humanely possible, which has led to some difficult decisions with this class.
But there will still be some talented youngsters joining the bunch. Gayles appears to be the next in line, and it won't stop Alabama's pursuit of 5-star WR Monshun Sales, whom they hope to pair with Gayles for a devastating 1-2 punch of the future to pair with the nation's most talented QB room.
