Auburn commits an embarrassing gaffe during 5-star's official visit

We here at BH try to keep the main thing the main thing. We're an Alabama site, and we focus on the Crimson Tide 99% of the time. However, we also refuse to miss an opportunity to poke fun at a rival, especially when the fruit tends to hang so low on the tree.

Hugh Freeze hasn't done himself any favors this offseason in the eyes of Auburn fans. He is squarely on the hot seat entering his third season with the Tigers following back-to-back disappointing years. He has posted a record of just 11-14, and most observers believe he probably needs to win 7+ games to show tangible signs of progress and buy himself a fourth season.

One of the only things working in Freeze's favor has been his ability as a recruiter. He signed a Top 10 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle, and nobody would deny that there has been an increase in talent down on the Plains from where Auburn was when he first arrived.

Auburn, like most major programs, is hosting an impressive group of official visitors this weekend. Like Alabama, the Tigers have gotten off to a bit of a slow start in the 2026 cycle and are looking to grab some momentum over the summer.

Auburn's biggest official visitor this weekend is 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho from Baltimore, Maryland. The massive offensive lineman recently named the Tigers among his top four, joining Oregon, LSU, and Penn State. Most think Auburn has work to do, however, with this weekend on the Plains being their big opportunity to impress the blue-chipper.

Instead, like Kevin Malone at a company potluck, they've spilled the chili all over the floor and themselves.

Auburn misspells 5-star Immanuel Iheanacho's name on placard

Now, that's certainly a way to make a big impression on an elite prospect. It's just not the impression Freeze and the Tigers wanted to make. Sure, it's a simple mistake to make, but something that simple can be costly in the eyes of an elite prospect. The little things matter.

How they spelled "Iheanacho" correctly, but fumbled "Immanuel" might be the funniest part of it.

It certainly seemed to bother Iheanacho, who posted that to his story on one of the social media sites. In a hotly contested battle with three other prominent programs for the services of one of the best players in the country, you can't afford a blunder during your big opportunity to sway them.

But Auburn just can't seem to help themselves these days.
