Christmas may have already passed, but Alabama football's wide receiver room could still be in line to add a shiny new toy to their offense come 2026. That toy could come in the wrappings of former 5-star WR Cam Coleman, who officially announced on Monday his plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on January 2nd.

The 6-foot-3, 205 pound sophomore is now on the move after spending 2 seasons at Auburn, where he reeled in 93 total receptions for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns. This production comes after the Phenix City, Al native first popped onto the scene as a one of the nation's top receivers in the recruiting class of 2024. During that time, Coleman received strong interest from Alabama, before committing to Texas A&M as a senior, then ultimately flipping his commitment to sign with Auburn.

Alabama could make a push for Auburn's Cam Coleman in the Transfer Portal

Coleman now finds himself back on the market ahead of his junior campaign as one of the most coveted receivers in the portal. Pro Football Focus writer, Max Chadwick recently listed Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M as potential suitors in the Coleman sweepstakes as the junior receiver looks to join a contender with a decent track record of developing talent into the NFL.

Many suspect the Crimson Tide could fit this bill and have an inside track on the Coleman sweepstakes after the recent staff addition of Auburn WR coach Derrick Nix. Nix played a key role in successfully flipping Coleman to Auburn in 2024 and coached him in his 2 seasons with the Tigers before becoming Alabama's newest receiver coach earlier this month.

Alabama is likely to be in the market for a WR or two in the Transfer Portal. Germie Bernard is out of eligibility after this season, and junior Isaiah Horton has begun to generate significant NFL Draft buzz. There's also the potential for Alabama to have its own portal attrition with guys down the depth chart.

Alabama added only one WR in the 2026 recruiting class, nabbing 4-star in-state star Cederian Morgan, who has already turned heads in practice on the scout team for the Crimson Tide during Rose Bowl prep.

Coleman could ultimately prove to be out of Alabama's price-range, but he's one of the most talented receivers in the nation and would seemingly be a glove-like fit in Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb's offensive system.
