While Alabama has gotten off to a hot start against South Carolina with a beautiful 75-yard touchdown pass from Keelon Russell to Lotzeir Brooks in the first quarter followed by another Russell touchdown pass to Ryan Coleman-Williams, it isn't all good news for Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide.
Senior safety Bray Hubbard, a team captain, was seen limping to the locker room with just over five minutes to play in the first quarter.
His status is not immediately known. Freshman Jireh Edwards replaced Hubbard in the lineup and appears set to get the majority of the snaps with the senior out.

Safety is the position with the most depth for the Crimson Tide. Along with starter Keon Sabb, Alabama has other talented options like Edwards, Zay Mincey, and Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., who are more than capable of playing meaningful snaps.
But Hubbard is not easily replaced. Not just from his ability as a player, but with his leadership and his ability to get everyone lined up on a down-to-down basis. He's one of the Crimson Tide's leaders. Not just on the defense, but on the whole team.
He's also a supremely talented player. He came into the season as a preseason 1st-team All-SEC and All-American by multiple sources.
Hopefully, whatever Hubbard is dealing with isn't a major injury. He's a player that Alabama is going to need going forward, especially with the brutal five-game stretch that awaits on the other side of the South Carolina game.
We will continue to monitor Hubbard's status and provide updates as they come in. There might not be an official one unless and until someone asks DeBoer at halftime as he heads into the locker room. ESPN has a sideline reporter, so hopefully we'll hear some kind of status update before then.
