Things couldn't have gone much worse for Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins offense in the 2025 season opener.

Playing at home against a team many expected to be one of the worst in the AFC in the Indianapolis Colts, the Dolphins got completely outclassed and embarrassed. The Colts scored the game's first 30 points before Tagovailoa threw a touchdown pass to De'Von Achane with 6:21 to go in the fourth quarter.

Before that, Tagovailoa turned the ball over three times, with two interceptions and a lost fumble. The turnovers were costly and eye-opening. The interceptions looked to be a direct result of his diminished arm strength, which seems to be continuously on the decline, thanks to numerous injuries dating back to his time at Alabama.

Tagovailoa finished the game 14-of-23 for just 114 yards. It's only one game, but this performance, dating back to past playoff failures and last season's disappointing season for the team, gives more evidence to Miami fans who continue to question whether he can be the franchise QB moving forward or if they would be better off moving on.

Week 1 seems to have answered that question for many of them.

Tua Tagovailoa drew a lot of hate from Dolphins fans on social media following a disastrous Week 1 performance

Some of Tagovailoa's most ardent supporters threw in the towel after Sunday's performance. It's a long season, but patience has clearly worn completely out in Miami.

Brian Flores was not right. If it were up to Flores, Tagovailoa would have never had an opportunity to start. He earned that opportunity and showed plenty of flashes of brilliance during his career. The injuries have just piled up.

The fate of Tagovailoa, Mike McDaniel, and Chris Grier is all tied together. If the Dolphins move on after the season from Tua, they'll do so by firing the head coach and General Manager, too. It'll be a total rebuild for the Dolphins.

Not that you needed to hear the same thing from Shannon Sharpe, but the weekly talk shows are going to be unkind to Tagovailoa beginning tomorrow, too.

It appears Miami media has turned on Tagovailoa, too. He'll need some big performances in the coming weeks to have an opportunity to right the ship and get folks back on the bandwagon. It's fair to question at this point whether or not he's capable of those types of performances.
