The second of Alabama’s two first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, Jihaad Campbell, has officially agreed to a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported on Wednesday that Campbell signed a four-year deal worth $14.9 million in guaranteed money with the Eagles holding a fifth-year option.

Campbell became the 28th first-round pick to sign as NFL minicamps begin to wrap up across the league. The former five-star recruit from New Jersey, who arrived at Alabama as an edge rusher, was the top off-ball linebacker in the 2025 NFL Draft, but slid to the 31st overall selection.

Howie Roseman, the general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles, who has long valued prospects out of SEC powerhouses like Alabama and Georgia, was desperate to add Campbell coming off the franchise’s second Super Bowl Title. Roseman reportedly considered trading up as high as No. 22 in the first round, but his patience paid off as Campbell fell and the veteran general manager only needed to move up one spot from No. 32 in an exchange with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Campbell, who converted from edge rusher to off-ball linebacker to find his way onto the field in Tuscaloosa, will pair with another former edge rusher in Philadelphia. Zach Baun waited until midway through his NFL career to make the same positional switch, playing off-ball linebacker for the first time in his career last season and earning First-Team All-Pro honors for the Eagles. Baun recently commented about how he sees a lot of himself in Campbell, which isn't big-time praise from one of the league's best linebackers.

Baun cashed in with a major payday to stay with Philadelphia this offseason. Campbell Will also join former Georgia Bulldog Nakobe Dean, who missed the Super Bowl run after suffering a season-ending knee injury. Dean is unlikely to be ready for the start of the regular season, so Campbell will likely be thrust into a starting role early in his rookie season.

Campbell led the Crimson Tide in tackles last season with 119 while chipping in five sacks, an interception, and two forced fumbles. That production will be difficult to replace, but Alabama is in a good spot at off-ball linebacker with Deontae Lawson and Justin Jefferson both returning. That duo will also be joined by Colorado transfer Nikhai Hill-Green.
