Curt Cignetti trolls Alabama over Rose Bowl loss with Donald Trump right next to him

It's been over four months since the Rose Bowl and it's still a very sore subject for Crimson Tide fans. So leave it to Curt Cignetti to twist the knife a little further.

The Indiana Hoosiers and his team were at the White House for the champions visit with President Trump. During his speech, Trump mentioned Indiana's win over Alabama in the Rose Bowl and Cignetti responded with a 'Roll Tide' quip.

As you can see, Cignetti is having a good laugh over this one, as he surely did right after his team handed the Crimson Tide their worst postseason loss in history. In a season that was as up-and-down as last year was, getting blown out in the playoffs wasn't what anyone wanted, but maybe it was what we should've expected after rallying to knock off Oklahoma 10 days earlier.

The Rose Bowl loss should remain a point of motivation for Kalen DeBoer

As Kalen DeBoer heads into his third season with the Crimson Tide, that game should stick in the back of his mind for a long time. He never wants to feel that way again or see Alabama football get run off the field in that fashion. As much as fans want him to be perfect, it isn't going to happen. Even Nick Saban wasn't perfect. But DeBoer can't be on the wrong side of another 38-3 game and his recent contract extension tells me that the decision makers in Alabama athletics believe he won't let it happen again.

"You've got to go back to starting over from scratch with putting the people around you, the right people, committing to something, a common goal together and the actions following it," DeBoer said after the Rose Bowl. "It may not feel like it when you're in this moment right now. But I can tell you, it's a fine line between being here and being at the top."

It's a line that DeBoer hopes his team is willing to work for to get over in 2026 and maybe seeing Cignetti's smug face laughing at them will be something that serves as motivation.
