Death. Taxes. DeVonta Smith coming up clutch. Those are the three facts of life. The third one happened again on Sunday. With their backs against the wall on a 4th-and-goal late in the fourth quarter trailing by five, the Philadelphia Eagles knew who to get the football to.

Jalen Hurts took the snap, immediately looking for Smith running an out route just inside the goal line, and fired a pass that everyone watching knew would be caught as soon as they were sure it was Smith getting the football.

That's just what the Alabama legend does. When it's winning time, get that man the football. He's been doing it his whole career.

The touchdown was great. His reaction to seeing the play for the first time after the game was even better. Smitty couldn't help but crack a smile while watching his touchdown reception that gave the Eagles the lead after rallying from a 26-7 deficit.

"At the end of the day, somebody had to make a play," Smith said. "The team, they trust me to go make it, I made it."

DeVonta Smith is as clutch as they come

DeVonta Smith's been coming up clutch in big moments since his freshman season at Alabama. Everyone remembers the game-winning walk-off touchdown in overtime that beat Georgia in the National Championship Game, but people forget his game-winning touchdown reception from - guess who - Jalen Hurts against Mississippi State during the regular season.

Smith put together a virtuoso performance against Ohio State in the National Championship Game during his senior season. He won the Heisman Trophy with one of the best seasons in the history of college football by a wide receiver.

In last February's Super Bowl win over the Chiefs, Smith drove the final nail into the Kansas City coffin with a touchdown reception.

The man just delivers time and time again. He's as reliable as they get. He may not put up the flashiest numbers in Philadelphia's run-based offense, especially with an All-Pro WR in AJ Brown lined up on the other side, but Smith has lived up to every bit of the hype he arrived in the NFL with.

The Eagles are off to a 3-0 start, and once again look like Super Bowl contenders. They know when their backs are against the wall and they need someone to make a play, which will happen time and time again, they can always turn to the reliable Smith to make a play when it matters most.
